Drosophila Early Development Gallery

Our technology for producing high resolution images has led to many interesting studies.  One of the most fruitful has been a pictoral exploration of drosophila development from larva to adult.  Throughout development, there is a marked lack of obvious cellular involvement.  Much of the architectural shaping appears to be spontaneous self assembly.  Although there is certainly a network of communication leading to proper development, it appears that the network is more complicated than previously imagined.
